Dr. Mary Healy

Dr. Mary Healy is associate professor of Scripture at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit and an internationally-known speaker. Her doctorate is in biblical theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. She is a general editor of the Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture, a series of commentaries that interpret Scripture from the heart of the Church, and author of its volumes The Gospel of Mark (2008) and The Letter to the Hebrews (2016). Dr. Healy also is author of Men and Women Are from Eden: A Study Guide to John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. She serves as chair of the Doctrinal Commission of International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services. She also serves the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian unity as a member of the Pentecostal-Catholic International Dialogue, and in 2014 Pope Francis appointed her to the Pontifical Biblical Commission.


Dr. Mark S. Latkovic

Dr. Mark S. Latkovic (1963—) was born in Cleveland, OH and now lives in Allen Park, MI with his wife and four children. He obtained an M.A. degree from The Catholic University of America (Washington, DC) and S.T.L. and S.T.D. degrees from the Lateran University's Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family (Washington, DC "Session"). He is Professor of Moral and Systematic Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary (Detroit, MI), where he has taught courses in fundamental and special moral theology since July 1990. He is the co-editor of St. Thomas Aquinas & the Natural Law Tradition: Contemporary Perspectives (The Catholic University of America Press, 2004) and What's a Person to Do? Everyday Decisions that Matter (Our Sunday Visitor, 2013), among many other publications in both scholarly and popular journals. He is also frequent speaker and consultant on moral issues and a member of many professional societies. In his spare time, he blogs and writes poetry.


Doug Mainwaring

Doug Mainwaring is a Marriage, Children’s Rights, & Grassroots Activist. He Cofounded National Capital Tea Party Patriots. Doug has written opinion and commentary for The Washington Times, The Washington Post, Washington Examiner, Baltimore Sun, Public Discourse, American Thinker and others. He has been a guest on FoxNews, Sky News, NPR, and has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Ways & Means Committee, numerous State legislative bodies, town hall meetings, panels and rallies. He is cofounder of CanaVox, a grassroots movement to create a vibrant marriage culture and recently participated in the Vatican Colloquium, The Complementarity of Man and Woman. Doug and his wife have two college-aged sons.


Dr. Ralph Martin

Dr. Martin is the Director of Graduate Theology Programs in the New Evangelization and a professor of theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Detroit.

He is also the  president of Renewal Ministries (www.renewalministries.net), an organization devoted to Catholic renewal and evangelization. Renewal Ministries is the sponsor of “The Choices We Face” a widely viewed weekly Catholic television and radio program distributed throughout the world and engages in a wide variety of media and mission work in more than 30 countries..

Pope Benedict XVI appointed Ralph as a Consultor to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization. He was also appointed as an expert to assist the Bishops during the 2012 Synod on the New Evangelization in Rome.

He is the author of a number of articles and books.


Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron

Appointed by Pope Benedict XVI, the Most Rev. Allen H. Vigneron was named archbishop of the Detroit Archdiocese on Jan. 5, 2009, succeeding Cardinal Adam Maida.

In January of 2003, Archbishop Vigneron was named coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Oakland, Calif. He served in that capacity for nine months before becoming the local ordinary (resident bishop). While in California, he oversaw the design and construction of a new cathedral, chancery, conference center and healing garden dedicated to those abused by clergy.

In Detroit, he was named an auxiliary bishop under Cardinal Maida in 1996.

Archbishop Vigneron served as rector-president of Sacred Heart Major Seminary from 1994–2003. He had studied for the priesthood there, returned in later years to teach philosophy and returned yet again as a dean. A native of Mt. Clemens, the archbishop was ordained as a priest of the Detroit Archdiocese in 1975.

In July of 2015, Archbishop Vigneron will become the President of the USCCB Committee on Doctrine.


Thomas Cardinal Collins

Cardinal Thomas Christopher Collins was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario, where his father was the circulation manager of the Guelph Mercury and his mother was a legal secretary. He is the only son and the youngest of three siblings. His childhood home was situated behind The Church of Our Lady, where he attended and served morning Mass.

Cardinal Collins considered being a teacher or a lawyer but was profoundly inspired by his Grade 11 English teacher, Father Newstead, at Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School, who knowing him, suggested that he should consider the priesthood. In 1969 he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (English) from St. Jerome College in Waterloo. In 1973 he obtained two degrees, a M.A. (English) from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Theology from St. Peter's Seminary in London, Ontario. That same year he was ordained to the priesthood on May 5, 1973 in the Cathedral of Christ the King, Hamilton, by Most Reverend Paul Reding.

While studying in Rome, specializing in sacred scripture and the Book of Revelation, he received his Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Bible Institute in 1978 and a Doctorate in Theology from the Gregorian University in 1986.

After holding various academic appointments, in 1997 he was appointed as Bishop of Saint Paul, Alberta. Two years later, he was named the Archbishop of Edmonton. In 2001, while in Edmonton he was named Apostolic Administrator of Saint Paul. In December 2006, he was appointed as the Archbishop of Toronto, and installed in January 2007.

In 2007 Cardinal Collins became a ex-officio member of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops Permanent Council, the Chancellor of the University of St. Michael's College and the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies, in Toronto. He is the Chair of the Board of Governors of St. Augustine's Seminary, and the Chair of the Board of Directors of Redemptoris Mater Missionary Seminary, Catholic Charities and Catholic Cemeteries and is a Trustee of ShareLife's Advisory Board. In 2008, Cardinal Collins was elected President of the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario.

During his time thus far in Toronto, Cardinal Collins has served the global church through his membership with the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, Congregation for Catholic Education and Commission of Cardinals for oversight of the Institute for the Works of Religion (IOR). He has participated in the Synod on the Eucharist, and the Synod on the Middle East, served as an Apostolic Visitor in Ireland and also as the Delegate of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith for Anglicanorum Coetibus.
On January 6, 2012, the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI announced the appointment of Cardinal Collins to the College of Cardinals. He was elevated to the College of Cardinals as Cardinal Priest of San Patrizio on February 18, 2012. Thomas Cardinal Collins is the 16th cardinal in Canadian history.


Chuck Weber

Chuck Weber serves as executive director of the Kansas Catholic Conference, the public policy arm of the Catholic Bishops of Kansas. He is a former Kansas State Legislator. Prior to that he was a freelance writer and short film producer who produced the Courage series Invited to Courageous Love.
