Statement on COVID-19

August 3, 2020 UPDATE: As Courage International continues to monitor the developments relating to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we welcome the easing of restrictions in some areas, which may allow us to move forward with some of our previously scheduled gatherings. This is important to us because, while virtual meetings and events have allowed our members to stay connected, the convenience of online meetings cannot replace the spiritual and emotional benefits of meeting with one another in person.

We remain mindful that the situation surrounding the pandemic is subject to change at any moment, and it is our priority to ensure the health and safety of our members. Know that any of our upcoming in-person events may still be cancelled, per the directives of local health departments. For events which are not cancelled, we ask participants to please respect the policies of the venue at which the event is taking place with regard to social distancing, hand sanitizer, and masks.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: EnCourage Shrine Day Pilgrimage

April 18

March 16, 2020 UPDATE: As the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop, we urge all of our members to be cautious when visiting any location where the spread of the virus is a risk.

The Shrine Day Pilgrimage is an event which is intended to unite EnCourage members around the world in prayer by inviting them to bring their intentions to a local Catholic shrine. Unlike formally organized gatherings, one can take part in this pilgrimage privately, at one’s own discretion.

That said, we encourage all of our members who intend to visit a church or shrine as part in this pilgrimage to review the Centers for Disease Control website for guidelines in how to stay safe and healthy.

If for any reason you are unable to travel to a pilgrimage site,  you can still take part by uniting your prayers with those of all EnCourage members from around the world.

Finally, know that the prayers you offer are invaluable part of our whole apostolate. Whether you are able to physically visit a Catholic shrine, or are obliged to take part in this pilgrimage from the privacy of your homes, know that you prayers are bearing fruit.

Our next EnCourage Shrine Day will be on Saturday, April 18th – the day before Divine Mercy Sunday. To participate, please send an email to the address below. If you have a conflict on April 18th, uniting your prayers “spiritually” on an alternate day will work. Prayers will be sent and names collected in advance.

Read more about EnCourage Shrine Days here.

If you are homebound, you can pray from home, perhaps participating in a “virtual” tour at a shrine like the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
